It turns out that despite the fact that he is the currently ruling monarch, the King is only the second-richest British royal - so who tops the list?
Prince William
The heir to the throne was estimated to be worth more than £1b ($2.1b) in 2022, taking into account the Duchy of Cornwall, which provides him with a yearly income of around £24 million ($52.6m).
William also inherited £10m ($21m) from his mother Princess Diana and £7m ($15m) from the late Queen Mother.
King Charles
According to The Times, the King has a net worth of around £900m ($1.9b).

Charles inherited the Duchy of Lancaster from the late Queen Elizabeth II. The 18,433 hectare estate is estimated to be worth £647m ($1.4b).
It’s also believed he inherited around £370m ($810m) from his mother, tax free, along with shares, jewellery, art and an extensive stamp collection.
Princess Anne
The King’s sister Princess Anne is thought to be worth around £50m ($109m). She and her ex-husband Captain Mark Phillips were gifted the estate of Gatcombe Park in 1976 and split the property after their divorce.
It’s not clear what Anne inherited from the late Queen, though she earns an income as a working royal.
Prince Michael of Kent
The late Queen’s cousin Prince Michael of Kent is thought to have a fortune of around £31.5m ($69m) to his name.
He retired from the military as a major in 1981 and retired from his public royal duties at the age of 80.
David Armstrong-Jones
Princess Margaret’s son is believed to be worth £19.7m ($43m) to £30.7m ($67m), having inherited a large sum from his late mother.
He set up a furniture design company and has worked at auction house Christie’s.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
The Sussexes' net worth has been estimated to be as high as £60m ($131m) though The Times reported they were worth £20m ($43m) in 2022.
The couple have signed multiple commercial deals, while Harry inherited £10m ($21m) from his late mother Diana and around £7m ($15m) from the Queen Mother. However, he’s not entitled to as much money as his older brother.

It’s believed Harry also earns around £1m ($2.1m) a year through his work at BetterUp.
Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester
Queen Elizabeth’s cousin Prince Richard, 80, is thought to be worth £12.6m ($27m) to £19.7m ($43m), as he is still a working royal.
Peter Phillips
Princess Anne’s son is worth around £15.6m ($34m), having worked in hospitality management, racing, the Royal Bank of Scotland, and even selling milk in China.
He is also the managing director at sports management company Sel UK.
Zara Tindall
His sister Zara is thought to be worth more than £15.6m ($34m).
She’s a professional equestrian who also has lucrative endorsement deals with the likes of Rolex, Land Rover and Musto.

Mike Tindall
Her husband Mike Tindall could also be worth up to £15.6m ($34m), having earned around £325,300 ($713,000) throughout his rugby career.
He’s since worked with brands from Domino’s Pizza to Amazon, as well as owning Kimble Trading Ltd.
Lady Sarah Chatto
Princess Margaret’s daughter is worth £3.9m ($8.5m) to £14m ($30m), it’s estimated.
Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh
The late Queen Elizabeth’s youngest son and his wife Sophie could be worth £10m ($21m) together, The Times reports, with Edward having inherited sizeable sums from Prince Philip and the late Queen Mother.
Their living costs are reportedly covered by the Duchy of Lancaster, and they are also paid as working royals by the Sovereign Grant.
Princess Kate
The Princess of Wales' net worth is significantly lower than her husband Prince William’s, as she married into the royal family rather than inheriting their wealth.

She’s thought to be worth £5.7m ($12.4m) to £8.1m ($17m), according to Reader’s Digest.
Prince Andrew
The disgraced Prince Andrew is reportedly worth around £5m ($10m) - although he no longer receives a royal income and is facing the high cost of maintaining his home Royal Lodge.
It’s reported that he may have to move out of the property to a smaller home.
Princess Michael of Kent
Marie Christine, the wife of Prince Michael of Kent, is believed to be worth around £3.9m ($8.5m).
She no longer receives funds from the Sovereign Grant, but has since become vice president of data company Afiniti, having also founded BY-EQ.
Princess Beatrice and Eugenie
Sisters Beatrice and Eugenie are believed to be worth £765,000 ($1.6m) to £3.5m ($7.6m) together, though neither receive funds from the Sovereign Grant.

It’s believed that Eugenie still works as a director at Hauser & Wirth, an art gallery, while Beatrice has worked at Afiniti.
